In June Lia moderated a panel of sustainable creative tourism experts on behalf of the Trentino School of Management. The digital event: Putting people first: Methodologies for empowering communities in local development was hosted by Carlotta Barina of the Tourism Economics and Place Marketing department of the school. Panellists included three European case studies of community-led development of innovative practices of reviving local cultural heritage in a creative and sustainable way. https://www.tsm.tn.it/attivita/orizzonti-turistici-riflessioni-e-nuove-declinazioni

In April Lia gave a digital keynote during the opening of Turning the Tide: Climate & Culture Summit. She spoke about how the clever use of local DNA mapping techniques can help to raise awareness among communities of their capacity to both challenge current narratives of place, and gain the experience to make the social and cultural changes needed to mitigate the consequences of climate change. The summit was held in Glasgow on 24-26/4. Ben Twist, director of Creative Carbon Scotland, and artist/activist/curator Ben Parry shared the stage live from Glasgow.

Led by Swedish cultural organisation Intercult, Turning the Tide features cultural and creative initiatives dealing with the threat of climate crisis on waterfront cities. One of the partners in the project is Fablevision, a Scottish organisation working on trans-disciplinary dialogue through artistic co-creation, creative cartopological mapping and international cross-sectoral dialogue. In February Liz Gardiner of Fablevision hosted a webinar, attended by more than 100 people, focusing on issues around community resilience and sustainable place making. The webinar featured Lia as the keynote speaker.  You can watch the webinar here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11x8g85nv3Y
